It did not take much time for Chef Jason’s fine-dining restaurant to make its mark at the national level.
In only two months after its launch, White Plate by Chef Jason, also notably one of Goa’s newest, has been conferred the prestige of winning Best Newcomer – Restaurant awards at the Western India edition of the prestigious Food Connoisseurs India Awards 2023.
White Plate by Chef Jason is Jason DeSouza’s baby. This chef of Goan origin from Candolim also had the pleasure of witnessing his restaurant win the Ultimate Luxury Dining Experience award at the same event held in Mumbai earlier this week.
The prestigious awards were instituted to honour the best restaurateurs in the Indian food service industry, recognise quality industry practices, endorse successful initiatives and business formats, and celebrate changemakers and innovators across various segments.
Reacting to White Plate by Chef Jason, one of the most recognised molecular gastronomy restaurants in the state, coming away with two prestigious regional awards, Chef Jason said that the endorsement is “an incredible milestone in his culinary journey”.
“It is a testament to the tireless pursuit of excellence and the creative spark that drives me each and every day. I owe a debt of gratitude to my team – my strength – whose hard work and dedication made this possible, and to all my supporters, who have been with me every step of the way. We are very excited to continue pushing the boundaries of flavour and artistry and to share my passion for food with others,” Chef Jason said.
A restaurateur, an entrepreneur and flavour savant extraordinaire, celebrity chef Jason DeSouza’s culinary journey began with the Taj Group of Hotels.
His meteoric rise to becoming the youngest executive chef in the country was punctuated by stints with various luxury hospitality brands in India.
An alumnus of a prestigious culinary institute in London, Jason honed his craft in the famed kitchens of culinary royalty, namely Gordon Ramsay and Alain Ducasse.
The Food Connoisseurs India Convention is the country’s largest convention for the food and beverages fraternity, and its awards are considered the toast of the specialised hospitality sector.
The earlier editions of the convention addressed changes and innovations during and post the pandemic, helping the industry address and overcome the challenges faced.
However, the upcoming edition aims at focusing on micro-trends that have altered the palate, brand and capacity building, food tech, cloud kitchens, food deliveries and a lot more to do with the food business.
The convention aims to foreground the inventive ways different champions of the industry conquered the challenges of contemporary times, opening the door to greater profits and expansion.
