Although it is sadly time to smile and wave as the Goa Carnival 2023 sails away, fear not, there is still time for one last hurrah that it has in store for us at the Panjim Samba Square today, February 21, 2023.
The Jardim Garcia de Orta is hosting the annual Red and Black dance from 6.30 pm onwards, giving us last few hours of merry-making before Ash Wednesday and then on to the season of Lent.
At the event, one will get to experience top-notch entertainment with food, dancing, activities for kids, pop-up stalls and more, not forgetting everyone's favourite -- the Goan Urrak.
The city garden has seen hoards of people gather at the Samba Square for the 4-day festival. But nothing compares to the last and final day which is the 'Red and Black' dance, famous among revelers.
If you're wondering why it's called the 'Red and Black' dance, well the answer is, the dress code! Everybody attending the dance today will be seen flaunting an outfit in any of these two colours.
So, if you are looking for a place to show off that backless new red or black dress or if you don't have one, walk into a mall and get one before it's too late!
In the past, this banger of a dance would go on till 4 am. However, due to recent 10 pm sound restrictions by the High Court, this year will be different.
Nevertheless, promising us two whole hours of extra dancing, the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) has managed to extend the deadline from 10 pm to 12 am.
So, sway to the tunes of Sherise D'souza, UZO the band, Archies Band Goa and Tidal Wave Goa which are lined up to get your spirit high!
