The nine days of novenas of Ven Agnelo, will be held at Pilar from November 11, 2024 to November 19, 2024, while the feast mass of his 97th death anniversary will take place on Nov 20, 2024.
The theme for this year is ‘Inspired by Ven. Agnelo, let us be dynamic evangelisers of the Word of God.’

The Most Rev Sebastiao Mascarenhas, sfx (Bishop of Baroda), will preside over the solemn high mass, which will be celebrated at 9.30 am.
ABOUT FR AGNELO
Born in Anjuna on January 21, 1869, Agnelo de Souza (1869–1927) was a distinguished Goan Roman Catholic priest of the Society of the Missionaries of St Francis Xavier, Pilar. He spent much of his life preaching and living in Goa, which was then part of Portuguese India.
Revered as ‘Padr Agnel’ by the people of Goa, he gained prominence for his powerful retreats and spiritual guidance. The cause for his canonisation has been officially accepted by the Holy See, and he has been declared ‘Venerable’ in recognition of his virtuous life and work.
