The Goa CMS VATAVARAN Environmental Film Festival & Forum organised by the IUCN Commission on Education and Communication (CEC) and supported by #NatureForAll, Wildlife Trust of India, Video Volunteers, BITS Pilani - Goa Campus, Vidnyan Parishad, Goa, and The Assagao Mehfil is happening in Goa.
The two venues that have been chosen for the festival are the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) and Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani, Goa Campus in Panjim from March 5 to 7, 2023. The theme of the festival is "LiFE" (Lifestyle for Environment).
The festival line-up includes a series of programmes, including a gala inaugural function and musical concert, award-winning film screenings, exhibitions, quiz competitions, and thematic panel discussions.
DAY 1 (OPENING CEREMONY)
The duration of the inaugural ceremony will be from 5 pm to 7 pm and will be graced by Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant as the chief guest. The opening film Hope: Climate Positive Stories from India by Gurmeet Sapal and Rishu Nigam is all set to be screened at Auditorium 1 of ESG.
This will be followed by a musical concert Bhoomi Mangalam which will be curated by Sandeep Srivastava.
DAY 2
The schedule for March 6, 2023, will begin at 10 am and will go on to be an interesting day that will end at 5 pm.
The films that are going to be screened at ESG are The Ghost Nets, Fishing Palk Bay, Microplastics in the Aegean, Peng Yu Sai, Elephants in My Backyard, ABOSHESH (Remains) - A Shadow in the Forest, MARKHOR - Hope In a Paradise, Heroes of the Wild Frontiers: The Fragile Islands, Kinara, The Python Code and Gyamo - Queen of the Mountains.
ESG will be hosting the Mojo Filmmaking Workshop on day 2 and day 3 of the festival in Auditorium 2.
A panel discussion titled "What Strategies Can Be Implemented to Overcome the Challenges of Human Activities on Marine Life" and an on the spot wildlife quiz competition will be held as well at ESG.
From 2 pm to 5 pm, the film Education on the Boat - A New Hope for Tomorrow will be shown at BITS Pilani.
Besides this, there will be a panel discussion "How Can We Strengthen the Engagement of Youth in Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Efforts".
DAY 3
Beginning at 10 am, the films screened will be Water Contamination and Control, New City, Alternative Paths (Waste Management), Rebellious Waste, and Water Be Dammed..., Global Warning - Kashmir Chapter, Ice Motion, The Climate Challenge and Future Ready Tamil Nadu.
There will also be a panel discussion "How is Conservation of Nature Linked to Climate Action?". The festival will come to an end at 5 pm after the Valedictory and Award Ceremony.
