While the World Trade Center (WTC) is a familiar name, not many people are aware that the organisation has a branch in the Goa, which is actively involved in the State’s business scene.
On June 12, 2024, the organisation joins its international counterparts in celebrating the 22nd anniversary of the World Trade Centers Associations Day.
On June 13, 2024, award-winning journalist, Jane Borges, will share her thoughts on life as a writer, her books and her endeavours at oral history.
WORLD TRADE CENTER ASSOCIATIONS DAY
On the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of the World Trade Centers Associations Day, World Trade Center Goa, Panjim, is organising an exciting programme involving discussions, networking and more, on June 12, 2024.
Those connected with the field of business are invited to participate in a discussion during the programme, the main topic of which will be the seven MoUs which WTC Goa has signed with the seven international World Trade Centers (WTCs).
The local business community will be able to present their ideas as well as share ways to implement these ideas so as to benefit from these MoUs. Assistant Director (Trade & Promotion), WTC Goa, Cyril desouza, will moderate the programme.
Apart from this brainstorming session, participants will also get to explore the WTCA network and its role in global trade.
This will be followed by fellowship and networking, and refreshments will be served.
The event is open to business professionals. While there are no participation fees, registration for the event is compulsory.
The World Trade Center Associations (WTCA) is a global network of World Trade Centers (WTCs) that aims to promote international trade, and serves as a platform for businesses, organisations and individuals to connect, collaborate and access resources to expand their global reach.
Currently, WTCA connects more than one million businesses across 90 countries.
An initiative of M Visvesvaraya Industrial Research and Development Centre (MVIRDC), promoter of WTC Mumbai, World Trade Center (WTC) Goa facilitates trade and investment promotion in the State and assists local businesses to foray into global markets.

‘MEET THE AUTHOR’ IN MARGAO
The Dogears Bookshop, Margao, presents a ‘Meet the Author’ session on June 13, 2024, featuring Jane Borges, who will share her experiences as an author and journalist, as well as her work with Soboicar.
Borges, has authored fiction as well as non-fiction, the most recent being Bombay Balchão, a delightful chronicle of life in Cavel – a peaceful, yet fast-disappearing neighbourhood in South Mumbai.
She has also co-founded ‘Soboicar’, an oral history archival project that seeks to chronicle the stories of Catholic migrants, who made Mumbai their home, and shaped and influenced some of its neighbourhoods, in collaboration with the Citizens' Archive of India.
Jane was Deputy Editor at Sunday Mid Day, Mumbai, a stint that won her the RedInk Journalism Award in 2022.
Her bylines have appeared in the Sunday Mid-Day, The Swaddle, New Lines Magazine, Scroll, The Asian Age and Muscat Daily.
