Museum of Goa (MOG), Pilerne, presents ‘The Project Called Life’, a talk by independent photographer, filmmaker, educator and National Geographic Explorer, Deepti Asthana, on July 23, 2023.
The multi-talented photographer will share her extraordinary journey of self-discovery through her art, her experiences as a woman photographer and the impact of each project on her understanding of life, all of which have shaped her search for her path, voice and purpose.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Deepti Asthana is an independent photographer, filmmaker, educator and National Geographic Explorer, whose work focuses on gender and environmental issues in traditional societies of India.
Through slow and long form documentary photography, she has in-depth access into the lives of the people she photographs. Her work brings out the emotional and social balance required to tell these hard-hitting experiences.
In 2020, Deepti was awarded by World Press Photo foundation under their Global Talent 6x6 program.
In a project supported by The National Geographic Society, she is currently documenting the water crisis in the Western Himalayas and its impact on the lives of young women.
