From an interview with a Goan wildlife photographer to a film on the famous Mumbai police inspector, who tracked Charles Sobhraj at O’Coqueiro, check out the exciting line-up in the days to come.
FILMS UNLIMITED
The Cinephile Film Club and the Mumbai International Film Festival MAMI Year Round Program will present 15 diverse films from South Asia from April 11 to 14 at the Maquinez Palace Theatre, Panjim.
Feature as well as non-feature films will be part of the festival.
On the opening day, April 11, 2024, the feature film will be the critically acclaimed film, Against the Tide. The film has won several awards including the Golden Gateway at the MAMI.
Koval Bhatia, the producer of the film, will be present for a Q&A session.
Yogesh Chandekar who wrote Monica, O My Darling and co-wrote Andhadhun, will present his thriller, Giallo, set during Covid times.
Shivamma, directed by Jaishankar Aryar and produced by Rishabh Shetty, is also a part of the 15 film line-up. The film has won accolades at international festivals.
The 86-year-old policeman, who retired as the Assistant Commissioner of Police in Mumbai, will be present at the screening, along with the director and producer of the film. The screening will be followed by a Q&A session.
On Sunday, April 14, 2024, Zende, a documentary on Madhukar Zende the police inspector who famously arrested Charles Sobhraj at O’Coqueiro restaurant in Porvorim back in 1984, will be screened.
The 86-year-old policeman, who retired as the Assistant Commissioner of Police in Mumbai, will be present at the screening, along with the director and producer of the film. The screening will be followed by a Q&A session.
The screening is free for members while non-members can pay Rs 250 for the whole festival, or Rs 120 for each day, at the venue.

XCHR CONVERSATIONS
Xavier Centre for Historical Research (XCHR) presents conversations on the book, Snakes of Goa and its Other Reptiles and Amphibians, by Rahul Alvares, along with conservation scientist, Aaron Savio Lobo, on April 11, 2024 at XCHR, Porvorim.
Rahul Alvares is a well-known snake-handler and wildlife photographer from Goa, and has written several books.
Aaron Savio Lobo is an author and conservation scientist, whose work spans over two decades in several countries in Asia and West Africa.
