THE PRACTICES OF ARCHIVES
Sunaparanta Goa Centre for the Arts, Altinho, Panjim, presents ‘The Practices of Archives: Exploring the use and potential of archives in contemporary art’, a symposium at Fundação Oriente, Panjim, on August 11, 2024.
The symposium will delve into the use and potential of archives in contemporary art. Artists and curators from the exhibition ‘ArQhive: Early-Modern-Contemporary Visions’ will share their experiences working with archives, especially during the preparation of the show over the last twelve months.
Spread across two panels, the symposium addresses how archives enable an understanding of the present. Combining theory and practice, the discussions will highlight how questions of representation and power are woven into the practices of the archive.
This symposium is part of ‘ArQhive: Early-Modern-Contemporary Visions’, presented by Sunaparanta Goa Centre for the Arts in partnership with Fundação Oriente India, Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia, Australian Consulate-General in Mumbai, Australian Government, Creative Australia, and Create NSW.
