The talented music creator graciously attributes the inspiration behind his love songs to the divine gift of music. He adds, “Music is a gift of God to me. I do not own it. It’s given to me by the divine. When my soul connects to that divine source, the music just flows as I write songs”.

“I had one goal in my mind to bring newness to our Konkani music for the young generation who are inclined towards Western music. Why not instill the love of our mother tongue, Konkani?” he says.

Behind every success, there is a story and Frizer doesn’t hesitate to narrate his past. He recalls, “A decade ago in 2014 I produced my first CD album, Tum Mhojem Sopon, with all my savings that I earned but it didn’t do well.”

He narrates, “After that, I moved to Dubai for work. In 2014, I wrote an unofficial anthem Forca Goa to cheer our Goan football team FC Goa in their first edition of ISL. The song went viral and was a big success. In 2015, I wrote a song called Coconut Tree as a revolt against the government’s decision to change the coconut tree status into grass, which too went viral overnight on Facebook garnering +1lakh views and still counting.”

In 2017, the impactful Mhaka Kiteak Poddla served as a wake-up call for Goans amid discussions on Goa becoming a coal hub.

Frizer penned the heartfelt Happy Birthday My Love, a special composition dedicated to his wife, resonating globally with 5 million views. In 2017, the impactful Mhaka Kiteak Poddla served as a wake-up call for Goans amid discussions on Goa becoming a coal hub.

The innovative Konkani pop track Mog Kudd’ddo (2018) garnered 3.5 million YouTube views, setting a trend in the genre. Noteworthy was Fottkirea Moga, produced entirely on an iPhone the same year, also hitting the million-views milestone.

Frizer’s musical journey continued with hits like O Moga (2019), Tum Mhojem Valentine (2020) and Juliana (2021), each etching its place in the playlists of Goans.

Don Disancho Sonvsar holds a poignant story originally intended for release during COVID-19, it emphasises the message that life is short, encouraging people to live to the fullest.

Frizer recollects, “The song was written when we lost so many people, even some of my close ones who were so healthy and fit. It made me ponder how feeble life is. I do not know my tomorrow, all I have is now, so live in the moment. It was supposed to be released during the pandemic but couldn’t manage to produce it. But I am happy it’s out now.”

Frizer’s songwriting focuses on creating timeless melodies that resonate with generations and ensuring his music brings joy to people of all ages. He views music as a personal journey of self-improvement, recognising challenges and staying in tune with technology.

He says, “I am my competition. I compete with myself to be better every time I sing or produce a song. People see just the tip of the iceberg (i.e. the success), they do not see the hard work, financial issues, stress and dejections that one goes through. As the world progresses the music is changing rapidly.”

Frizer finds the songwriting process to be effortless, but the production process presents a significant challenge.

He says, “So far all my songs have been produced without any sponsorship. One needs finances to produce a good music video. I took a two-year break to post a new music video, people even thought that I was done. But I am not done yet, I will not give up and I want to produce more music. I believe Jesus has a special plan for me.”

Frizer has some advise for young musicians, “Please do not imitate or sing like your favourite artist, be unique and be original. Stay humble and grounded even when you reach the stars. Always believe in the plans of God, have faith in yourself, work hard in silence and create your legacy.”

Frizer’s songs stand as humble contributions to the rich Konkani music. With dreams set on performing globally for the Goan diaspora, he holds a firm belief that this aspiration will materialise in due course of time.

Amidst this journey, he expresses gratitude to a supportive family, particularly acknowledging the unwavering love and encouragement from his wife Jancy Fernandes and son Jake D’Souza, the wind beneath his wings, as also his brother Cannon D’Souza, from whom he received initial music ideas and a lot of encouragement throughout the musical journey.

He says, “Big thanks to all my true fans across the globe; what I am today is because of your love and support. I promise to keep working hard and give you the best music. Forever Mog Asum.”
