GT checks out how Goan families usher in the festive season

Christmas is just around the corner! It is the season of joy, love, peace, sharing, giving gifts, etc. This Christmas, I want to reflect, gather, listen, remember, sing, celebrate and pray. I have been closely associated with children, who have lost one, or both, parents during the pandemic. I have packed clothes, goodies and mobiles for their online classes. Haircuts have been organized for them. From December 19, the children will be given haircuts. We have roped in ‘Papiillon the Beauty Lounge’ (Margao) for the same. We are associated with about sixteen children all over Goa, whom I along with my family members, are trying to give a memorable Christmas.

Instead of spending on luxurious wear and exotic food for Christmas, helping these children, as well as flood-affected children, is what we plan to do. We will be spending the Eve of Christmas with children in South Goa, and December 25th with the children in North Goa. It is the time of the year for me, and everyone to show compassion and love.
As far as family celebrations are concerned, we never buy sweets from the market. All the family members get together and make the sweets. My son makes a bamboo star and crib every year. Enjoying a meal together at Christmas is very important for all of us
