The novenas of St Anthony will begin on June 5, 2023, at St Anthony’s Church, Siolim. St Anthony is one of the most popular Catholic saints, and hundreds of devotees attend the masses on the novena and feast days.
While novenas are generally 9 days long, the novenas of St Anthony last for 13 days, and are hence known as trezena (from the Portuguese word treze, meaning ‘thirteen’), instead of novena (from the Latin word novem, meaning ‘nine’).
