The annual fair of the famous Shree Shantadurga Kunkalikarin Devasthan at Fatorpa will be held this year from December 27 to 31, and the festival will conclude with the Maharatha procession starting early on January 1, 2023.
The Devasthan Committee Chairman Kavendra Desai informed the media in a press conference held on Wednesday that devotees from Goa along with devotees from Karnataka and Maharashtra visit this fair. For the safety of the people, all areas will be kept under the surveillance of CCTV cameras. Special TV screenings will be kept so that the rituals going on in the temple can also be seen by the devotees standing in the queue outside the temple.
A temporary police post will be set up for the safety of the devotees and other emergency services will also be made available. Dessai informed that special volunteers will be arranged to take darshan to the elderly from nearby doors so that they do not have to stand in queues.
In this fair, there will be Shibikotsav on the first 27th night, Ambari Rath procession on the 28th night, Flower Chariot procession on the 29th night, Vijay Rath procession on the 30th December and main Maharatha procession going to leave on January 1 at 6 am.
In this fair, every year, the ornaments, clothes and other items offered to the goddess are auctioned. Desai informed us that this auction will be held between January 2 and January 6. Committee member Darshan Desai, Subhash Desai and Viraj Desai were present on this occasion.
