For the first time, Goa is all set to host an inclusive festival Purple Fest starting January 6, 2022 to January 8, 2022 at the Entertainment Society of Goa, Panjim.
THE AIM
The festival aims to provide a platform for engaging panel discussions, sessions and address issues concerning persons with disabilities.
TO REGISTER
Purple Fest: Celebrating Diversity is organised in association with the Directorate of Social Welfare and the Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities Goa.
The last day of registration for the event is December 20, 2022.
In order to register one will have to fill in their details here (https://scpwd.goa.gov.in/) and pay a registration fee of️ Rs 1000 for individuals and Rs 500 for groups of ten members and above.
WHAT TO LOOK OUT FOR AT THE PURPLE FEST?
There are various sections and events that will be taking place which will cover discussions, talks, live performance, etc.
Purple Think Tank
This section will consists of a series of talks and panel discussions that will highlight topics such as inclusive education and employment across disabilities.
Purple Fun
This corner will have activities ranging from bird watching to a blind car rally. It will allow participants to explore beaches, temples and churches of Goa.
Purple Experience Zone
This zone covers activities that will help people with disabilities navigate through life. It will help them overcome obstacles and make helpful advancements.
Purple Exhibition
The exhibition will cover both science and arts. It will showcase the latest aids, appliances and products that are developed by and for persons with disabilities. You can also come across live-art camps and other activities here.
Purple Rain
This will cover performance of artists, music concerts, dance, stand- up comedy, etc.
Minister for Social Welfare Subhash Phaldesai said, “We are expecting a footfall of over 5000 for the upcoming Purple Fest in Goa. I appeal to the people to attend this festival.”
OPEN PARA TABLE TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP GOA 2023
As part of the fest, there is an All India Open Para Table Tennis Championship Goa 2023 that will be held on January 7, 2023, organised by the Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities Goa in collaboration with Directorate of Social Welfare Goa and Sports Authority of Goa at the SAG Stadium, Panjim
