Goa, and all things Goan, is the subject of many authors, although books in poetry form are few and far between. Here's a new book which features Goa in verse.

In a celebration of literary excellence and cultural heritage, Eds Publication is set to honour the distinguished Konkani writer and activist, Manuel Fernandes, during the launch of his much-anticipated second book, Sopnallem Göy.

Sopnallem Göy, which translates to 'Goa of dreams') is a compilation of 70 evocative poems, traverses diverse themes, encapsulating Manuel's deep-rooted concerns for Goa's identity, nature's beauty, and the enduring spirit of Konkani culture.

The event will be held on May 11, 2024, at 5 pm at the Holy Cross Chapel in Ponsulem, Canacona, and promises to be a momentous occasion for all lovers of Konkani literature.

The felicitation ceremony will be graced by esteemed personalities, including former president and current councillor of the Canacona Municipal Council, Simon Rebello; and recipient of the national Sahitya Akademi Award and visiting professor at the Patriarchal Seminary of Rachol, Vincy Quadros.

Joining them on stage will be notable figures, Celso Fernandes, who is the president of the Dalgado Konknni Akademi; as well as Director of the Diocesan Centre for Biblical Apostolate, Fr. Mariano D'Costa.
