As Lent concludes and the Easter season dawns, commercial tiatr directors are all set to entertain tiatr-loving audiences with their new productions.
Although the season of new releases may be of a short duration, the directors work on their new shows in all earnest and provide entertainment to the tiatr fans in the form of good storylines, comedy and songs.
This Easter season, around 13 new tiatrs from different commercial tiatr directors are to be released in Goa simultaneously. And, tiatr lovers will be entertained by a galaxy of artistes, comedians and singers.
The new Easter releases lined up this year include Amchea Ghorant by Prince Jacob, Girgirem by Roseferns, Hem Ghor Tujem Nhoi by comedian Sally, Ger’rak Nhoi Vor’rak Melo by Francis de Tuem, Saibinn Maim Chuklim Ami by Dominic Fernandes, Mhojea Jivitachi Kanni by Wilmix.
Other releases include Osadd by Franky Gonsalves, Rogot by Menino de Bandar, Mhozo Daddy by comedian Myron, Parveachem Rogot Dhovem ani Kavlleachem Rogot Kallem? by Peter/Roshan, Sonvsar Chear Disancho? Kai Monis Chear Disancho? by comedian Joyel, Bara Brestar Tera Sukrar by Aleixin de Morjim, and Tuka Odhikar Nam by Selvin de Siolim.
Apart from the new productions from seasoned tiatr directors, some of the old productions which are being re-released for Easter include Goemkarachim Dukham by Pascoal de Chicalim, Bessaum by John D’Silva, Mhojem Kalliz Otrekta by Dominic Carvalho and Chint Munxea Vogot Astanam by JosEvon.
Throwing light on the new releases for the Easter season, Wilson Mazarello, popularly known as Wilmix on the tiatr stage, is commemorating 50 years on the tiatr stage as an actor and singer.
And in order to mark the golden jubilee on the Konkani stage, he will be staging his tiatr Mhojea Jivitachi Kanni. His tiatristponn began way back when he had the opportunity to act and sing along with the likes of C Alvares, Prem Kumar, Alfred Rose, M Boyer, Jacint Vaz, Robin Vaz, Seby Coutinho and several tiatrists of yesteryears.
Speaking about his new production, Wilmix said that his tiatr, Mhojea Jivitachi Kanni, has a story that relates with the life of every Goan. It is in the format of the original traditional tiatr with seven podd’dde and songs in the form of solos, duets, trios, quartets.
For those who enjoy listening to cantos, he said there are several of them wrapped in the new production.
The novelties in his tiatr include a child artiste singer Mezioh and a magician, who will be performing some tricks for the young and the old.
Most of the tiatr directors prefer to have seasoned comedians in their tiatrs to entertain the audience. But this time round, Wilmix has welcomed the students as comedians, and they will enthrall with natural laughter pills.
Francis de Tuem’s 9th production on the tiatr stage is Ger’rak Nhoi Vor’rak Melo. It will be released in Goa with three shows, followed by 7 shows in the UK, thereafter. Undoubtedly, he has always done his homework well, and the tiatr crowd will definitely expect something new and different from him.
Aleixin de Morjim’s tiatr, Bara Brestar Tera Sukrar, was staged at Kala Academy’s Tiatr ‘A’ Group Competition this year, and bagged the second prize from among 12 contestants.
He is now excited to bring his tiatr to a wider audience in villages and cities, this Easter season. He has been performing at KA’s tiatr competition annually from 2013, and since then, he has hopped equally well into commercial tiatr shoes.
After touching the century mark, Roseferns 104th production Girgirem will entertain tiatr fans with a family story, comedy and songs. The new entrants in his troupe include Patricia, who performed earlier in comedian Ambe’s tiatr.
There’s Benzer and Prakash Marathe, too, who have been roped in for his new release. Instead of comedian Nato, Ben Evangelisto will be wearing the comical shoes, with Meena, Agnel, Juvinel and Steven.
Kuwait-based Dominic Fernandes is releasing his tiatr, Saibinn Maim Chuklim Ami, across Goa from April 6.
It carries a family story with all artistes from Goa. Some of his artistes include Priscila, Venita, Manisha, Jones, Gracy, Alister, while the singers are Savio, Aniceto, Rons, Marcus, Xavier Gomes, Xavier de Maina and Lanessa.
The comedians roped in are Piety and Lino.
The late comedian, Selvy, once ruled the tiatr stage, and now, his son Myron will be releasing his first production Mhozo Daddy in memory of his father. His father received much support from audiences, and Myron also expects the same from all his tiatr fans.
