Celebrate the monsoons in a unique way on July 16, 2023 with ‘Raga-Rasa in a Heritage Home’, an initiative by Art Escape (AE) in collaboration with The Live Music Project (TLMP).

The Sunday morning experience which will be held in a Goan heritage mansion includes Indian classical music along with a contemporary Indian breakfast/brunch as well as a dip in the in-house pool.

Participants will get a chance to explore the raga-rasa concept, learn something new, discuss the  relevance of Indian classical music, listen to a bansuri performance or just chill out in a Goan mansion and enjoy scrumptious Indian food.

PROGRAMME OF THE DAY

  • 8 am: Welcome drink and tour of Silva Heritage

  • 9 am: Discussion on understanding ragas with a bansuri performance and interactive session

  • 10.15 am onwards: Gala breakfast/brunch

  • After breakfast: Enjoy a dip in the swimming pool and chill out at the property

ABOUT THE EVENT

The rāga is a unique feature of Indian classical music tradition, while rasa means aesthetics, juice, essence, and is experienced only in the art form.

As part of the ‘Raga-Rasa in a Heritage Home’ event, there will also be a 1-hour interactive session on exploring the scientific and cultural significance of ragas, through performance and conversation.

This will include the mathematics behind creating a raga, its history and relevance in the world of Indian music, film songs that are based on ragas, and practical examples of ragas being developed on the bansuri.

Panjim Gymkhana: Goa's first sporting complex

Gandhaar, a music composer, producer and flautist from Pune, who has been working towards creating a new sound that makes traditional Indian melodies more appealing to the modern, urban, global audience, will be the resource person for the event.

He has been performing his own music for the past 15 years, and composing and producing music for TV and film for almost a decade. More details about him are available at:

These performances will be held in Benaulim, at Silva Heritage, which is a 350-year-old colonial mansion.
