The first edition of the ‘Bomoicarachem Fest’ will be celebrated at the Pilerne Thursday Heritage Market (PTHM), Pillerne, North Goa, on May 11, 2023.
Along with Goans from different parts of the world, Bomoicars (Goans based in Bombay/Mumbai) visit Goa in the summer months of April and May, which is also the time when the annual feasts are celebrated in their ancestral villages.
During the fest, Bomoicars will share snippets from their fast-paced lives outside Goa, as well as nostalgic memories.
A variety of handmade items will be on sale including health food, artwork, handicrafts, embroidery, soaps, candles, handicrafts, plants etc. Other attractions include a jumble sale and an Economy Gift counter.
The Food Court will serve food cooked in local village kitchens – from delicious traditional Goan snacks to authentic local cuisine to sweets.
PTHM is inclusive and strives to be a zero-waste event. Single Use Plastics (SUPs) and disposables are banned, and visitors are encouraged to bring their own plates and cutlery.
