The death of a battery may cause the clock to momentarily halt, but time does not wait for the new set of batteries to move in – it passes, regardless.
Time is of the essence, and lost time will never return, especially when you are on vacation. To ensure you waste no time on your Goa vacation, here is a timed tour map to give you an idea of what to do and how to navigate your way through lush green Goa in monsoons.
6 AM: DROPLETS OF SUNRISE
Assuming that you’ve already settled into your homestay or hotel, sure, the early bird gets the worm, but what it also gets is the first glimpse of light – sunrise.
During the monsoons, Goan sunrises are best accompanied with a hot cuppa tea (or coffee), and the calming sound of the falling rain that goes full cycle to return to the soil.
7 AM: BREAKING THE FAST
Grab your umbrella and head out for a local breakfast at your nearest breakfast joint and kick-start your day, the Goan way. Breakfast options range from puri-bhaji to a mighty English breakfast based on which part of Goa you’ve decided to reside in.
Pro tip: Asking a local for suggestions is always a great idea because they know their locality the best.
9 AM: PICK YOUR RIDE
Laced with the pleasant scent of Petrichor, renting a car is the safest option during the monsoons.
However, if being an adventurist and hopping on a bus is more your thing, then renting a bike and feeling the raindrops do the tap dance on your skin is rejuvenation personified.
10 AM: RIDE ON GOAN SIMPLICITY
Ride through Goa’s scenic villages and get a glimpse of the simple lifestyle of Goan folk.
Houses dressed in colourful plastic coating and farmers toiling in the fields as the rain washes away the paper boats that the children send out on a voyage - drenched in simplicity, these are the moments that make Goa what it is.
11 AM: MARKETS IN THE RAINS
Visiting the market is more than just a shopping experience, it is the opportunity to say hello to the various sights, scents and sounds of Goa.
While the rain may stop the sun from shinning brighter than usual, it certainly does not stop the marketplace from functioning like normal. After all, come sunshine or rain, the show must go on.
1 PM: LUNCHTIME PANG
Lunchtime cravings are often strong, and lucky for you, Goa has a wide range of restaurants to enjoy lunch at.
The choice is yours, pick your favourite cuisine and follow the map to your chosen eatery of the day.
3 PM: DESSERTING YOU
Ice cream during the rains is usually frowned upon, but vacation time calls for breaking the typical stereotype.
Right from ice-cream to gelato and a sizzling hot brownie to beat the monsoon blues – nothing on the menu is off-limits on vacation. All you have to do is ask the chef, and you shall generously receive!
4 PM: GO SIGHTSEEING
Being a tourist State, sightseeing in Goa does not stop during the monsoons. Visit historical monuments and stroll along the Latin quarters of Fontainhas as you witness reels turn to reality, especially with the filter of the rain.
But, if sightseeing is not really your style, then going trekking and exploring green Goa’s nature cove is always an option.
6 PM: SUNDOWN MAGIC
Watch the sun disappear for the night and refuel with food from local roadside stalls.
Cutlet bread, corn, wada pav or mirchi, locals love their rainy-day accompaniments, and we’re sure you will too!
8 PM: DINNER ROMANCE
Doll up and head out for dinner at any of the restaurants that you’ve been dying to try out since you watched your favourite influencer's Instagram reel.
Delicious food, romantic weather and the perfect ambience – date night in Goa is the perfect way to end the day.
11 PM: TO THE RHYTHM
The night may seem like it has ended, but if the party scene is your thing, then it is safe to say that the night has in fact just begun.
Head to the many clubs and parties that await you in North Goa and responsibly dance the night away because before you know it, tomorrow awaits you to do it all over again!
