Around two decades ago, Dom Pedro, changed the face of snacking in Margao, when it threw open its doors — giving the people of Margao the opportunity to enjoy some amazing Goan delicacies. And, since then, the outlet, located in the heart of Margao, has been offering delicious Goan sweets and savouries to discerning customers, and is the go-to spot for people hunting for quality traditional Goan fare.

A BIT ABOUT DOM PEDRO

Dom Pedro was started in 2001 by Peter Luis Pereira, from Vasco, and stocks a variety of tempting authentic Goan snacks and quick bites — in fact, everything that one could possibly want, including Prawn Rissóis, Beef Samosas, Cutlets, Croquettes, Roast Beef Pão and Chicken Patties, among other things.

With customers from far and wide, purchasing these delicacies to be taken on their trips outside the state, this outlet should be on your ‘must-visit’ list if you are in the city of Margao, whether you are a tourist or resident of Goa.

I am a huge fan of Dom Pedro’s delicacies, and whenever I visit Margao, I absolutely have to visit it and pick up at least half a dozen Roast Beef Pão, which are nothing short of mouth-watering! Additionally, a popular traditional mango jam, magaad, which is simply divine, is available here during the summer months.

DECOR, MENU & MORE

Dom Pedro opened up over twenty years ago, and its ambience and decor is largely old-fashioned and reflective of that period. Apart from the assortment of items on sale, there is also a small seating area for customers, where people can catch up on news, conversations etc over a cup of coffee, and aromatic, freshly-cooked snacks (veg and non-veg), especially in the mornings.

In addition to that, Dom Pedro also caters to a couple of high-end clientele, such as five-star hotels and supermarkets across the state, including the well-known supermarket chain, Magsons.

While snacks are available at Dom Pedro’s 365 days a year, special items are available during the festive season. Christmas hampers, loaded with traditional festive goodies, such as Christmas cake, bebinca, bolinhas, marzipan, angel wings and perad, are some Christmas essentials that the outlet has been offering for well over ten years. Other all-time favourites that you’ll find here are chocolates and imported products such as wine, cheese, jam, dry fruits and local hot-sellers such as Sorpotel, Pork Vindaloo and Sannas, to name a few.

Peter is quite thrilled with the abundant positive feedback from all his happy customers. Over the years, he has expanded Dom Pedro’s presence, and added two more outlets in Vasco. Since then, there has been no turning back for Peter, who is busy with his delicious ventures!
