In an interview with Gomantak Times, Aviram Saharai share more about partying in the time of Covid-19 and his love for Goa.
Now that you are touring again, How does it feel to go back again on the stage and perform live?
I love it. This is my life. I am very blessed. I am so happy to be back here. I love India so much. It was so good to see such a lovely crowd. It was so good to see that the crowd was enjoying as one with Music. It was Amazing.
What did you miss the most about touring and performing live?
One thing that I missed the most was my connection with the crowd. When we do music, we think about the crowd and we think about union and what music generates for unity. I missed it so much. In 2020, when I could not do shows, I told my wife that my life is empty and something is missing. Although this year was also not good but still better than last year. Thank god we could still do shows. I am happy I am doing this show at Sunburn in Goa.
Covid-19 pandemic has affected live industry badly. How things have changed for you as an artist and how can we revive live events safely?
We try to take as much as many precautions as possible. We are doing so many Covid tests during our travel everywhere. We use masks all the time. We pray to God. It is a struggle because my partner was touring the United States. It was so safe, they had taken precautions but he still got Covid and it was during his birthday week. He was alone on his birthday. Unfortunately, we are also trying to avoid human contact. We love to take pictures and hug our fans but now it is not the best time to do it.
You have performed in Goa earlier too. What do you like about performing in Goa?
When I arrived in Goa, I felt I was in my hometown in my music genre because Goa is the capital of psytrance and I play psytrance. So whenever I come here, I feel like I am in the capital of my zone and culture. I enjoy being in Goa.
Did you observe any similarities between Goa and your home country?
Not actually because every country has its own magic and personality as a crowd. The crowd of India really want to go hard and I just love it.
Your favourite place to perform in the world?
It is tough to pick one place but I can say India is definitely one of my favourite places to perform.
What is the one track that you are definitely playing in your set?
The Tribe
