'Rock in Goa', Goa’s own rock musical event, is here to rev up the night and banish those blues. September 29, 2024, will see a fine line-up of rock bands and musicians to entertain Goan headbangers.
The music event has been instrumental in transforming the perception of rock music in Goa, increasing its appeal to nearly all age groups.
This is the 15th edition of Rock in Goa, that began in 2009 as Bad Blood and Friends. The rock music event has been a consistent showstopper since its inception, with the exception of the Covid-19 pandemic years.
The rock show is to be hosted as usual by Bad Blood Goa, the originators of the show, headed by Nixon Soares, lead guitarist and band leader.
“Rock music is generally associated with young minds. Normally, we are introduced to rock during our college days. A person who listens to rock will remain young forever. We do this to promote rock music and give the talented artists of Goa a decent platform to showcase their talent,” says Nixon.
He adds, “We started Rock in Goa a decade and a half ago just as a get-together of friends, and it has gone on to become the biggest rock event in Goa.”
It started out as a mashup between friends who had a strong affinity for rock music to become Goa’s biggest rock show, hosting bands such as Electric Pulse and Within Ceres.
India’s famous rock band Indus Creed made an appearance in 2013. There have been other internationally-famous performers like Baiju Dharmajan Syndicate, Point Of View (Dubai) and Daisy Grim (Dubai) at the event.

Pravas, one of the organisers of Rock in Goa, says, “This event is a platform for local Goan talent to showcase their forte, and we provide the best available standards, be it lights, sound or stage.”
The event attracts people from all walks of life and ages, which has aptly received the moniker of 'biker’s rock fest' due to the numerous hard-core bikers from biker clubs in Goa who attend this event with their top-of-the-line motorcycles.
This year, too, there will be an excellent array of artistes performing at the event.
Bad Blood’s song list this time will have new chartbusters to entertain the audience. Apart from them, old favourites, the classic rock band Electric Pulse, which prefers to be known as 'the band that plays your kind of rock' will be performing.
Lead singer Anirban Halder’s stupendous energy on stage will tire you, but he will not show any sign of breaking a sweat.
Lost, a rock band comprising young professional artistes from Goa with a unique sound, led by David from Vasco, promises to wow the audience along with Eclipse with ZEE, led by Victor, a brilliant guitarist.
The rock band Roar Engine, formed by very young professionals, is unique in that its drummer is 12-years-old. Theirs is a performance you don’t want to miss.

Rock in Goa will also present Kodop (Konkani for the word 'rock'), an extremely successful Goan rock band, which will be belting out tracks that will satisfy any rock music fan.
The spotlight will be on Kantten ani Fullam, the Konkani rock band headed by the famed Roque Lazarus. This band created Goan rock history the last time they performed at Rock in Goa.
Bad Blood has a new singer, Gautam Kari, to front them. The band is working on the video release of their slow rock song, Angel, and the new album release which will happen a few months from now.
So, prepare yourselves for a rocking good time, on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at 5 pm, at Gawin’s Restaurant & Pub in Verna at an event that is free to all.
