PATOLEO

If you are in Goa during the feast of Sao Joao, don't forget to taste these traditional sweets. The first, patoleo, are made of a rice batter with a filling of coconut and jaggery, placed in a turmeric leaf and finally steamed.

PINEAPPLE SHEERA

During the monsoon season, there is an abundance of pineapples in Goa, and so, pineapple sheera is often found in the traditional Sao Joao vojem.

KANTYA PONOS SHEERA

This unique sweet is made using the sour sop fruit, and is prepared in the form of a sheera.

ATOL

Rice, channa dal, Goan palm jaggery and coconut milk are the ingredients of atol. Adding a turmeric leaf can work wonders for its flavour.

PONSACHE FILOZ

If you like jackfruit, this pancake will drive you crazy! Ponsache filoz is prepared using wheat flour and ripe jackfruit kernels.

MUTLI

This sweet gets its name because it’s rolled in the palm of the hands. Roasted jackfruit seeds, coconut jaggery and grated coconut are its primary ingredients.
