World Goa Day: Celebrating culture, heritage and language

A GOAN LEGACY

The Goan Institute Hall, Dabul, Mumbai, recently hosted the World Goa Day celebration. The venue was beautifully decorated.

WORD OF ADVICE

Fausto V D’Costa, the chief guest at the celebration, urged and encouraged everyone to speak Konkani and also teach their children to speak the language.

RECALL

Goans across the world observe the day to celebrate the inclusion of Konkani as an official language in the Indian Constitution on August 20, 1992.

ENTERTAINMENT GALORE

The day had an entertaining lineup of programmes packed with live music, mandos, folk dance, skits and songs.

THE THEME

This year the theme of the day was 'Ami Sogli Ek - We are all One!' People from various age groups joined in the celebrations. Goans from far-off places like Borivali, Andheri and Vasai attended the event.

MOVERS & SHAKERS

The hall thundered with loud applause for all the performers and performances.

THE PLEDGE

Those who partook in the event took a pledge to continue to celebrate the day every year in high spirits.

The entire event was put together by The Goan Institute Committee members, who truly made the event a memorable one.
