Sometimes, visiting a new place is more than just a vacation. It is a chance to step into a different world, learn new things and pay respect to a world beyond the one we've known.
Goa is often known only for its beaches and party scene, but did you know that this tropical state has plenty of churches, temples and mosques?
No matter your faith or which God you believe in, here are a few tips to keep in mind when you are visiting holy ground.
While revealing, or skimpy, holiday attire may look gorgeous in a beach setting, remember to dress modestly when you are visiting a place of worship. In a pinch, cover yourself up with a scarf or shawl.
Shh... prayers in progress! What may seem like just a normal day to you, could be different for those praying. Be mindful of ongoing services, and let the quiet reverence of the place embrace you.
Put your phone on silent mode, keep your children in check and make sure that your tone is as low as the whispers of your camera clicking a candid picture that you did not want anybody to know about.
Having said that, remember to read the signboards and instructions that have been put up especially for you. And, if you are requested not to click photographs, kindly oblige because just like people - some places are camera-shy too!
