Ahead of Narak Chaturdash, giant effigies of Narakasura have come up across Goa.
The Narak Chaturdashi marks the day on which Lord Krishna slew the Asura king Narakasura, rescued 16,000 women captured in his eastern capital of Pragjyotisha or Pragjyotishpur, and restored their honour.
Marking the legend, giant effigies of Narakasur are erected just a day before Diwali, stuffed with firecrackers, and burnt at dawn.
