Evocative Thumri melodies reverberated through the 350-year-old Silva Heritage mansion in Benaulim recently, creating an experience unlike any ever seen on Goan soil.

STAR OF THE NIGHT

Hindustani vocalist Shivani Haldipur Kallianpur from Mumbai was the star of the full-moon night with a Thumri performance that stirred the soul and cast a profound, lyrical charm over the audience.  

SOULFUL SERENADE

With each note, Kallianpur narrated the heartfelt evolution of this art form— from its intimate origins in the dimly lit kothas to its majestic presence in grand concert halls.

IN HIS MASTER'S SHOES

Goa's versatile tabla player Dr Uday Kulkarni's absence was made up by his his senior disciple Budesh Talkar who filled the air with his rhythmic mastery. Every beat he played seemed to carry the weight of Kulkarni’s legacy.

YOUTHFUL SPARK

A young harmonium virtuoso from Canacona, Vipul Bhagat, added his own spark to the evening’s alchemy. Bhagat's presence was more than a mere addition; it was a heartfelt tribute to the power of youthful brilliance.

RAGA RASA REVEALED

Vinesh Iyer, curator and co-founder of Art Escape - TLMP, introduced the concept of Raga Rasa, a celebration of the emotional essence that infuses Indian classical Indian music with its unique and transformative power.

Smita Diniz Costa, one of the the custodians of the historic Silva Mansion, guided everyone through its enchanting history.

MELODIES TO MORSELS

As the final notes of the performance lingered in the air, the guests, still under the spell of Thumri, were gently guided into a culinary journey - the beautiful intersection of Thumri and Bihari cuisine - crafted by celebrated Chef Ajanta Burman.
