This causeway (Ponte de Linhares) served as a vital link between Panjim, Ribandar, and Old Goa, which was the former capital of Goa.

VIEWS GALORE

It facilitated movement of people, goods, and, possibly, even military operations during that time. Besides its historical significance, the causeway offers some beautiful views for those travelling on it.

While driving towards the city of Panjim in the evenings, the combination of the setting sun silhouetting the Atal Setu and the bridge's own illumination creates a truly stunning view for motorists.

DIVINE CONNECT

Right across the River Mandovi lies the Church of Our lady of Penha De Franca. Built in the 17th century, the church is known for its scenic location overlooking the river and its beautiful architecture is a big draw for tourists.

NATURE'S WONDER

While travelling from Panjim to Ribandar, to the right are these salt pans, a network of shallow pools where seawater is collected and evaporated to produce salt in the summer months.

ISLANDS CALL

Also, while driving towards Ribandar, one can see the Chorao island which is the biggest in Goa and is known for its rich history and diverse wildlife, including its abundant birdlife found inside the Dr Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary.
