Carpe Diem Art Gallery, Majorda, hosts a variety of workshops and exhibitions on a regular basis, one of them being a mosaic art workshop, which was held recently.

The workshop was conducted by Marilyn D’Costa (right), of Mosaic Imprints, who instructed participants in the use of a variety of materials, textures and colours to create intricate designs, portraits, panels and more.

MAKING THE CUT

At the workshop, participants also learnt how to score and cut ceramic tiles.

Shaping tiles so as to fit the desired design was another technique which they were taught.

Marilyn who is a mosaicist, has created a variety of mosaic works including ‘Birds on a Branch’, a suncatcher in stained glass.
