Think mosaic art is only for stained glass windows?

Carpe Diem Art Gallery, Majorda, hosts a variety of workshops and exhibitions on a regular basis, one of them being a mosaic art workshop, which was held recently.

MOSAIC ART

The workshop was conducted by Marilyn D’Costa (right), of Mosaic Imprints, who instructed participants in the use of a variety of materials, textures and colours to create intricate designs, portraits, panels and more.

MAKING THE CUT

At the workshop, participants also learnt how to score and cut ceramic tiles.

SHIPSHAPE

Shaping tiles so as to fit the desired design was another technique which they were taught.

SUN FUN

Marilyn who is a mosaicist, has created a variety of mosaic works including ‘Birds on a Branch’, a suncatcher in stained glass.

GO GREEN

She made this mosaic wall mounting for a plant-lover.

LET THERE BE LIGHT

These stained glass lotus candle holders, created by Marilyn, will illuminate any room or space.

DEARLY BELOVED

Another creation by her is this mosaic tombstone which was done for the loved one of a client.

SHADES & COLOURS

The 7 colours of the chakra are incorporated into these hanging lampshades, where each colour represents the energy points on the human body.
