TIME FOR REBOOT

The Kids For Tigers (KFT) program was recently re-launched in Goa at the St Lawrence High School, Agassaim, and was attended by around 500 students from 12 schools.

THE STORY SO FAR

The program was supported by the Travelling Dome, UZWAAD, Vivekananda Environment Awareness Brigade and Diocesan Commission for Ecology, while local coordinator, Tallulah D'Silva, showcased KFT in Goa over the last 12 years.

FOCUS ON TIGERS

Activities at the programme included nature trails, collage making, face painting, scroll painting, street plays on tigers and the environment, and signing a memorandum to save tigers in Goa.

ALL ABOUT NATURE

A nature trail, in and around the campus was led by experts, environmentalists, botanists, herpetologists and educators.

These included Rajendra Kerkar, Dr Fr Bolmax Pereira, Benhail Antao, Adv Suraj Malik, Gitesh Gaikwad, Neola Pereira, Vishal Rawlley, Varun D’Silva and Vithal Shelke.

ABOUT THE TRAIL

On the nature trails, the students got to see endemic flora and fauna, stages of the life cycle of the Common Emigrant Butterfly, and a cave known to be the dwelling of Indian Rock Pythons.

TIGER RAP

Avkash Balerao, a student from The Progress High School, Panjim, presented a rap song on tigers, while a memorandum was read out by another student, Varun D'Silva, and signed by around 500 students.

CATCH ‘EM YOUNG

The KFT program will soon be conducted in local schools this year, culminating in a Tiger Fest. This forum will help children strengthen their interest in wildlife conservation and environment protection.
