Setting up shacks on Goa's beaches made easy

Shack owners in Goa can now set up their seasonal shacks after receiving nod from the tourism department alone.

CHANGE OF RULE

The government issued an ordinance to this effect on Monday, March 11, 2024.

LIFE MADE EASY

According to this ordinance, the operators of the shacks will no longer need to go to different departments to obtain permissions.

TROUBLE SAVED

Henceforth, operators will no longer be required to seek permission from the Town & Country Planning Department or local panchayats before erecting shacks.

FOR ALL...

This regulation will apply to both current and new shacks.

...BUT NOT FOR EVERYTHING

Nonetheless, the ordinance allows only the construction of shacks and does not encompass the requirement for obtaining a trade license, which the operators will need to obtain from the local governing bodies.
