Schools across Goa were forced to shut classes at 12 noon on Thursday and Friday due to the heat wave conditions.
The India Meteorological Department has warned day temperatures could shoot up and asked people to take precautions.
On Wednesday, the daytime temperature was recorded at 4-6 degrees higher than normal.
Not taking chances, the Goa Education Department took a decision to send children home early and is monitoring the conditions.
Parents had to wait in the scorching sun to pick their children up from schools in the capital city.
According to IMD, strong easterly winds, clear skies and delay in setting time of sea breeze have resulted in the heatwave .
Heads of schools have been asked to monitor the weather conditions on a daily basis.
