Divarkars keenly await the month of August to celebrate their favourite get together -- Malar Bonderam, the traditional flag festival!
So, on Saturday (Aug 19), the revelry went full on. And when it came to one of the most important events of the festival -- breaking the coconut -- this gentleman's solid stick was spot on!
The festival saw a downpour of rains and along with it contagious energy of the locals and the people who came from far and wide to be part of the festival
This cute little fancy dress contestant, who depicted a coconut plucker (called padekar in Konkani) was the cynosure of all eyes.
This float reminded us of the connection of Goans with nature when the lifestyle was integrated with farming. Lifestyle and heritage were the other themes portrayed in the small float parade.
Age was no barrier for the villagers of Divar who participated in the festival.
Adorned with colorful costumes that were each unique to the ward, the enthusiastic youth of Divar danced in the float parade with full energy and merriment.
In case you missed this round of Bonderam 2023, fear not! Divar celebrates it twice and the second celebration of Bonderam is bigger and better! So, save the day for August 26, 2023.
