Akash Agarwadekar and Pragati Garg won the male and female categories in the 21-km open event at the Goa Tourism Nuron Rotary Rain Run 2023.
Two students, Babu Gaonkar (21) from Sanguem and Ayan Soares (18) from Margao, topped the male and female categories in the 10-km open category event.
The run also served as a fundraising initiative for the 'Prakash Cancer Aid Project', an organisation dedicated to promoting women's health.
Before the run began, all the participants had warm up, yoga and Zumba sessions to prepare themselves before the run.
The 21-km and the 10-km runs were flagged off by Brigadier Arvinder Singh Sawhney, Commandant of 2 STC, and Nasir Bordaswala, district governor of Rotary District 3170 respectively.
The highlight of the run was the Coast Guard chopper hovering above and clicking pictures of the participants at the venue.
The event was a success and witnessed 320 men and 30 women participating in the 21-km run, while the 10-km run involved 495 men and 85 women. The 5-km run saw 527 men and 223 women participants, while 272 men and 113 women took part in the 2-km fun walk.
