One lane of Atal Setu going to Mapusa from Merces will be opened to traffic for the next 5 days to ease traffic congestion, informed Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today, March 25, 2023
Presently, the Atal Setu is getting a new layer of bitumen involving new technology by Laresn & Toubro. The bridge was making news for its frequent potholes.
The capital city has been witnessing major traffic snarls for the past few days due to closure of the Atal Setu bridge for this work.
Removing the earlier membrane and laying new membrane is technical and time-consuming work involving lot of hard work, the CM asserted.
Vehicles entering Panjim will have to turn left at the multi-level car park, proceed around the KTC circle and enter either Patto or Panjim as per the temporary traffic plan.
Ponda and Panjim arm of Atal Setu will be opened for public from April 2, the CM said.
The CM said the new technology of L&T for laying bitumen will offer smooth ride and will be long lasting.
