Crochet is admired and loved by all. But, did you know that this skillful art has a connection with Goa?
Hosted at Kaizen, a wellness center in Miramar, The Mango House recently held its first ever 'Crochet Exhibition' this Saturday, June 1, 2024.
The Mango House was founded by Renee Kaur, who is a graphic designer and also works closely with the craft sector.
The aim of the 3-hour exhibition was to showcase the intricate workmanship of 50 women artisans who come from zero income backgrounds.
The name 'The Mango House,' is inspired by Renee's understanding of the mango tree which she believes is an all-inclusive tree of life that accommodates everyone.
Priced from Rs 2,500 onwards, the exhibition showcased crochet pillowcases, tablecloths, bags and more.
Renee, who is originally from Delhi but now resides in Taleigao, says that she was very interested in doing something which could give back to Goa, the place she now calls home.
Renee's mind is always engaged in brainstorming on how she can support craft revival and crochet which is a craft that has been mapped to Goa.
