Moga Baim plays an important role in the lives of the people of Benaulim as it a designated bus stop and is even used in postal addresses.

IN A NUTSHELL

Time was when music and dance brought people together at this venue. And, this house in Benaulim, unwittingly ended up playing Cupid.

HOW IT CAME TO BE

Back in the 60s, the landlords of the house would organise dances regularly, and these events went on till late night in the Indo-Portuguese house.

MATCH POINT

After a night of dancing, when the people got weary, they would sit near the well, located in front of the house. In the bargain, many young singles met at this well, eventually tying the knot. News of the these dances spread like wildfire, drawing an increasing number of attendees.

PLAYING CUPID

In this way, countless people found the love of their lives near this well. Over time, people began to call it Moga Baim, in the local language, which translates to 'the well of love'.

FINDING LOVE

At a time when social media and the internet were non-existent, 'arranged marriages' were the norm, and meeting points were few and far between.
