The Way of the Cross, also known as Stations of the Cross, is held during the Lenten season. In Salcete's Dramapur, one can experience it on a hill.
Started ages ago, the Way of the Cross retraces Jesus's footsteps all the way to mount Calvary, where he was crucified.
In Dramapur, people participate in the Way of the Cross with great devotion.
While several adaptations of the Stations of the Cross have come to light in recent years, Dramapur is known for its unique enactment.
The parishioners of St Joseph Church in this village and many other devotees walk up the Dramapur hill while reciting the 14 stations of the cross.
The last station of the cross takes place at the Holy Cross of Dramapur which is said to have been erected by five women.
People take turns in holding the crucifix after every station.
As tradition goes, the Holy Mass is then celebrated on top of the hill.
