RADIANT REVERENCE

On the day when Goa celebrated Tripurari Pournima, the villagers of Vante in Sattari taluka lit numerous lamps to pay obeisance to Talyatlo Ganapati, housed in the Ganapati Dattatraya temple, in a unique tradition.

DIVINE CREATION

In the 18th century, Ramchandra Joshi sculpted the Talyatlo Ganapati from natural laterite boulders, along with depictions of Ridhi-Sidhi, Saptarishi, Vyagreshwar, Vithal-Rukmini, and Maruti.

ETERNAL LIGHT

The site of this temple in Vante is popular for a man-made cave and a sacred tank that's illuminated by diyas. This tank not only holds spiritual significance but also provides irrigation for local horticultural crops.

LAMP-LIT DEVOTION

To mark the occasion, inside the tank a spectacular squarish structure made of areca nut tree holds all the diyas. These diyas are encircled by a deepmal, called tripur, which is crafted from the pseudo-stem of banana.

GLOWING TRIBUTE

As the earthen lamps are lit and placed on the Tripur, their brilliant light brightens the sacred tank.
