Know about this early morning Ganesh visarjan in Amona, Quepem

A NEW DAY

While Ganesh visarjans happen throughout the night in Goa, in the village of Amona in Quepem people walk to the river bank in the early morning hours to conduct this final ritual to end the day-and-half Chaturthi celebration.

NATURE'S CONNECT

The visarjan ceremony begins as early as seven in the morning on the banks of Kushavati river.

PAYING HOMAGE

Unlike other places, in Amona people go to each and every house to perform the final aartis. By the time all houses are done, it is 3 am.

TIME TO PART

According to a villager, it is not ideal to perform the visarjan at 3.30 am and also there are crocodiles in Kushavati river.

UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN

So after 2 to 3 hours of rest, people wake up, freshen up and march with their idols to the river bank for the visarjan.

HIS DIVINE GRACE

On the river bank, the idols are placed in a line for the final goodbye.

LEAVING WITH LOVE

All the idols are immersed by 8.30 am after which the villagers return home.
