Although cyclone 'Tauktae' already visited Goa, had a ball of time and left for unknown territory, who is to say that another member of its cyclonic family will not decide to make Goa plans this year?
In accordance with the old saying, 'better safe than sorry', a State level tabletop exercise was conducted by the Goa State Disaster Management Authority on March 3, 2023.
The mock exercise was held from 9 am onwards in, both, North and South Goa districts.
The primary motive of the exercise was to enhance the level of disaster preparedness in case the state sees cyclonic activity.
A specialised rescue operation was carried out by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) at the simulation site of a high rise building for heli rescue.
Following the motto, 'leave no man behind!', or in this case, man's best friend, this loyal furball was an active part of the drill.
The drill focused on important aspects such as evacuation, search, rescue and relief operations.
