According to folklore, this tragic day came to be known as 'Good' Friday because it is seen as the ultimate sacrifice which led to the resurrection of Jesus, and His victory over sin.

People wore somber colours just as they would at the funeral service of a loved one.

Churches held the enactment of what happened centuries ago on this fateful day by lowering the statue of Jesus from the cross after His crucifixion and death.

There was a procession, of parishioners and members of the confraternity, carrying a statue of the body of Jesus, followed by a statue of his mother, Mary.

The season on Lent will come to an end on April 9, 2023, which is Easter Sunday.
