IFFI 2023: Who won the Lifetime Achievement award before Michael Douglas?

IFFI honors the contributions of film makers/ personalities /technicians to cinema with the Lifetime Achievement Award, which was renamed Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award on the occasion of the birth centenary of Satyajit Ray.

This year, at the 54th edition of IFFI, Hollywood star Michael Douglas will receive the prestigious Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award. Now, let's take a look at who made it to this esteemed list from 2019.

ISABELLE HUPPERT

The French actress, known for portraying cold, disdainful characters, was accorded the Lifetime Achievement award during the golden jubilee of the festival (50th edition of IFFI).

VITTORIO STORARO

Italian cinematographer Vittorio, who won the Oscar for films like Apocalypse Now (1979), Reds (1981) and The Last Emperor (1987), was honoured with the award at the 51st edition of the festival.

MARTIN SCORSESE

Known for films like Goodfellas (1990), Shutter Island (2010), American filmmaker and actor Martin Scorsese was conferred with the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award alongside István Szabó at the 52nd edition of the festival.

ISTVÁN SZABÓ

Alongside Martin Scorsese, the Hungarian film director and screenwriter won the title at the 52nd edition. In 1982, his film Mephisto (1981) became the first Hungarian film to win the Oscar for best foreign language film.

CARLOS SAURA

At the 53rd edition of IFFI, the Spanish film director and photographer Carlos Saura, won the award. The eminent film maker who began his career in 1955 passed away in February this year.
