Here's how devotees celebrated Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti in Goa

GURU IS GREAT

The Sikh community across the state commemorated the 357th birth anniversary of the 10th Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Gobind Singh, with great fervour and enthusiasm on January 17.

SHOWING THE WAY

The festivities commenced with a soulful kirtan diwan (Sikh devotional music involving singing of hymns) followed by 'nagar kirtan' which started from the Gurdwara Shri Guru Singh Sabha, Betim, and ended at the Gurdwara Shri Guru Singh Sabha in Mangor Hill, Vasco.

FOR GREATER GLORY

The procession was led by the panj pyare (five beloved men) adorned in traditional attire.

ENDLESS JOY

The procession wended its way through Bambolim, Agassaim, Cortalim, Chicalim and Swatantra Path in Vasco city.

HOLY SCRIPTURE

A palki sahib (palanquin) carried the Guru Granth Sahib (the Holy Scripture) and was accompanied by nishaan sahibs (religious flags).

Guru Gobind's teachings are relevant at any given point of time. He devotedly preached peace, justice and equality for all.

The gurudwaras were decked with candles, decorations and lights and the whole day was marked by happiness.
