Swimming in some of these rain-fed water bodies, especially abandoned quarries, can be dangerous.

AT YOUR OWN RISK

As per an order issued by the District Magistrate, swimming in abandoned quarries, at waterfalls, rivers, lakes and other water bodies in South Goa is banned.

COULD BE TRAGIC

This order applies to both, locals and tourists, due to the unfortunate drowning incidents reported at some of the water bodies.

STICK TO THE RULES

Those failing to comply with the order will be liable for penal action under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code and other prevalent laws in force.

STAY SAFE

The order has come into effect from May 26, 2024, and will remain in force for 60 days, unless withdrawn earlier.
