TEMPLE DEITY

Goddess Chamundeshwari, an incarnation of the widely-worshipped Goddess Durga, is the main deity of the temple.

NEW LOCATION

The temple was initially built in Goa Velha. However, after the Portuguese entry into Goa, the temple was relocated from its original spot to the peaceful environs of Pilgaon village in 1530, where it was re-consecrated.

A MATTER OF DISTANCE

Shri Chamundeshwari Temple is situated 20 km from Goa's capital city of Panjim, and 6 km from Bicholim.

NAVRATRI FESTIVITIES

During the annual celebration of Navratri, a 9-day cultural extravaganza, dedicated to worshipping the various forms of Goddess Durga, is held and the temple premises comes alive with colourful decor and a variety of devotional programmes.
