This Independence Day, locals from Curtorim got together to catch fish at Vetnem Praia.

Cash prizes of Rs 7,000 and more were up for grabs in a total of 3 categories.

MORE THE MERRIER

Over 200 participants -- young and old, men and women -- joined in this fun activity on the public holiday.

FISH GALORE

Participants were engrossed in the task at hand, and caught all kinds of fish, like sangta, tigur, kallu and even crabs.

Well-known nustekar, Pele, from Benaulim, also joined in the fun, while Usha Sardesai, wife of Fatorda MLA, Vijay Sardesai, showcased her fishing skills in the contest.

WOMEN POWER

Women from the village were at the venue, all geared up for the catch of the day.

TEAM SPIRIT

The event was organised by Reginaldo Trust, financed by Rui Menezes, and managed by Terancio Fernandes and Wilson Luis.
