Goa's markets look so festive at Chaturthi time

Preparations to welcome a guest start well in advance. And, when that special guest is Lord Ganesha, devotees go the extra mile to get the festive decor just right.

FESTIVE FLOWERS

In Goa, fresh flowers are essential to festive decor, and plenty of local varieties in bright hues are seen in the markets and along roadsides.

Some shops, such as this one, stocked all the Chaturthi requirements, from camphor to agarbatti to garlands to ghee, making shopping a hassle-free and pleasurable experience.

Water lilies are a traditional favourite during the Chaturthi celebrations in Goa, but are not very common these days.
