LOOKIN’ GOOD

Goa is a sight to behold during the monsoons when nature is dressed in all its glory. But …

CAUTION, MONSOON AHEAD

… the monsoon season is also a time to exercise a bit of caution lest your Goa visit ends up being memorable for all the wrong reasons.

CHOPPY WATERS

Firstly, the sea can get pretty rough. So, when wading on the beach, don't be tempted to venture far from the shore; you wouldn’t want to get caught unawares by a strong tide or rip current.

SLIPPERY WHEN WET

Rocks on the sea shore might be perfect for Instagram-worthy holiday pictures, but can get really slippery, and are best avoided because losing your balance and rough monsoon seas are a fatal combination.

URBAN FLOODS

Let's face it. It may not be Atlantis, but Panjim does get flooded when it rains, posing a hazard for vehicles, and pedestrians aren’t spared either. While 18 June Road is notorious for getting inundated, so are the areas around the city’s market, police station and KTC bus stand.

WATERY GRAVE

A swim in a quarry might seem inviting, but could prove to be a death trap considering they are deceptively deep.

HEIGHT OF DANGER

When it rains, waterfalls such as Dudhsagar, can get treacherous owing to slippery terrain, gushing waters, swollen rivers and even wildlife.

SKID ALERT

Two-wheelers, which are the preferred mode of transport for the average tourist looking to discover Goa, run the risk of skidding during the monsoon downpour.
