Goa gets its first solar electric hybrid ferry boat

Goa's first solar electric hybrid ferry boat sailed in the river Mandovi on Thursday giving media persons and top officials the feel of clean energy.

Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated the vessel in the presence of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and other dignitaries.

The vessel can comfortably seat 60 people. It will operate on the Panjim to Chorao route with a travel time of about 15 minutes.

First such ferry boat is operating in Kerala and this is currently the second one in India.

The vessel is built by Aquarius Shipyard Pvt Ltd, which is known for using various cutting-edge technology processes imported from Europe to build boats and yachts.
