Goa beckons open water enthusiasts to take on swim challenges

As the clock races towards December 1, 2024, swimmers training under the Goa Open Water Swim Club (GOWSC) are perfecting their strokes and techniques for the Zuari river swim challenge.

KNOW THIS

You will find most of the swimmers, who have registered for the event, at the Bambolim beach early morning preparing for the 5 km and 2.5 km ultimate challenge.

OPEN WATER

On the day of the event, swimmers will meet at Bambolim beach, hop aboard a boat and head to the starting point in the Zuari river.

RIVER LAUNCH

Those taking part in the 5-km swim will start their journey at the break of dawn, and the ones in the 2.5-km challenge will jump into the river at the halfway mark to head back to Bambolim.

THE BIG SWIM

The GOWSC is also organising its longest sea swimming challenge called Coastal Odyssey 2025 on January 12, 2025. The last date to register for this 20-km coastal swim in South Goa is December 22, 2024.

MAKING IT HAPPEN

What started as regular Sunday swims years ago is today Goa Open Water Swim Club run by a dedicated group of water enthusiasts.

GROWING WAVE

Over the last few years, the swimmers' community in Goa, including children, adults and even veterans, has grown making a plash in the open waters of Goa.
